I’ve been thinking a lot about my creative output lately, and why I struggle so much to post anything new.
And yet you have no problems posting political comics and arguing endlessly with people?
If you think I just make political cartoons and post them without imagining the tremendous backlash I might receive for them, you’d be dead wrong. I don’t particularly WANT to make political cartoons. It’s not my forte, it’s not my wheelhouse, it’s not my main interest. But despite how much hate and anger I might get for making them, my conscience won’t let me ignore things that actively hurt me and my friends. I can’t sit back and do nothing while laws are being passes that impact my colleagues. I can’t sit back and say nothing while nazis infiltrate geek culture and tear us apart from within. I’m too poor to be a philanthropist, and too sick to participate in marches. My only real ability to support people is through my art. Letting others know they’re not alone, that people like me will try to help however we can… I do not underestimate that power.
When the world calms down and terrible people are no longer trying to kill my friends, I’ll probably settle down too and not post as much political discourse. Again, I really don’t want to do it, but I’m of the opinion that if you have a voice you are OBLIGATED to use that voice to stand up for things you believe in.

I’ve also always been of the opinion that if you WANT to have a discussion with me, I am open to it. If you actually want to understand my point of view, I will give it. So if you see me “endlessly arguing” with people, it’s because I’m trying to help people understand my point of view. Maybe I’m wrong to do that. It seems very few people are ever convinced to change their minds after they’ve already formed an opinion of you. But the offer is always there for those who want it.
But yeah… even those political cartoons? I struggle to post those and make them too.
